Cook Forest Conservancy Privacy Policy

The Cook Forest Conservancy values its own privacy, and hopes to reflect our respect for yours in this privacy policy.  Here it is:

The Cook Forest Conservancy (the “CFC,” or “the Conservancy”) places a high priority on protecting your privacy. This policy explains what types of information is collected by The Cook Forest Conservancy’s website,, and how this information is used. By providing Personal Information to the Conservancy, you agree to this Privacy Statement.

With your permission and/or submission of the following to us, the Cook Forest Conservancy may collect your name, email address, postal address, phone number, profile picture, and social media IDs, which we may use for specific, limited purposes. If you choose to provide your payment or credit card information to the Conservancy, we will use that information for the purpose for which it was provided. If you submit any Personal Information relating to other people to us or to our service providers in connection with the Services, you represent that you have the authority to do so and to permit us to use the information in accordance with this Privacy Statement. Individuals that sign up to receive CFC e-communications voluntarily provide us with contact information (such as name and e-mail address), as may volunteers and persons attending events at which the Cook Forest Conservancy is present. You may always “opt out,” either now or at any time in the future, if you do not wish to receive our messages.

The Cook Forest Conservancy may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer, and for statistical metrics used to track website visitor traffic.

Presently, the Cook Forest Conservancy, as far as it is aware, does NOT use any type of “cookie,” and none of your personal, i.e., tracked-to-you movements on the website are logged – with the possible exception of Google Analytics, we don’t know how this works, but believe it’s anonymous. It tracks how long visitors stay on the site, how many pages they click to, and similar, so we know which pages are the most uninteresting.

We use your personal information to provide you with personalized service; to send e-mail alerts to you; to answer your requests; to process your donations and/ or membership application; etc. You may choose to opt out at any time, which will cease all communications from us. As mentioned above re: Google Site Analytics, the CFC may also track visitation of our website, to enable us to see which of our features are the most popular, and to better serve our users’ needs. This would also allow us provide aggregate data about our traffic (not identifying you personally, but showing how many visitors used which features, for example) to outside parties. Any changes to the present policy will be posted here in advance of such change, and any user may opt-out at any time.

E-MAIL PRIVACY: The Cook Forest Conservancy does not & will not knowingly provide, share, sell, or rent email addresses to anyone outside the organization.
